When it comes to your health, do you really matter?  Does your participation matter?  Does being held accountable and knowledgeable have a significant effect on your health?

The answer to all of these – A resounding YES!  I would also add that with the present healthcare system in turmoil, it is paramount to take the control of your health — NOW!

Although it may be difficult to navigate through the rough waters of healthcare today, working closely with your physician can make the journey much smoother.  Recent studies have shown that patients who are active in their health care, known as “Patient Activation” have more skills and knowledge, as well as confidence, to manage their health care issues (1).  Researchers found that the likelihood of developing diabetes, becoming obese or needing an emergency visit decreased dramatically.
