Burnt Out? Tired of Being Tired? Maybe it’s Adrenal Fatigue.

Are you tired of being tired? Lack the energy you used to have?  Want to regain that youthful spirit again? It may be Adrenal Fatigue. Then I have some news for you.

Recently I attended a cooking class taught by Freddi Pakier.  The title of the class, “Healing Adrenal Fatigue” inspired me.  I was also impressed with the premise of the class – to learn which essential nutrients might be missing from our diets and some delicious recipes and cooking tips for optimizing adrenal  health.

Now this was right up my alley!   Food and education all at one place – sign me up.  And so I did.

I was joined by 15 other avid listeners as Freddi listed the most common symptoms of adrenal fatigue:

  • Chronic  tiredness
  • Trouble getting out of bed – although you slept all night
  • Trouble thinking clearly or finishing your tasks ( I call this “brain fog”)
  • Dizzyness
  • Forgetfulness
  • Craving salty and sugary foods
  • Nausea
  • Depression
  • Decreased Sex Drive ( wait, I wrote a book about that…)

As we know from my previous blogs, the adrenal glands, as well as many other glands, can be “stressed” to the point that essential hormones are no longer produced.

Just look how many organs are affected by chronic stress.  The hypothalamus and pituitary glands are the master orchestrators of this symphony of hormones.  If they are off balance,  the orchestra literally plays out of tune – leading to havoc within the body.

With chronic stress comes elevated cortisol levels leading to diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and obesity. Click HERE for my favorite stress reduction tip.
