Vision Boards? Have You Heard of Them? Well, It’s Time You Did!

The New Year is here, we have our goals ahead of us!

2021 is here - let’s start living it. Reminder – reread the blog of self-sabotage, it will help reach your goals with far less pain/frustration: Can We Actually “Rewire” Our Brains?

What are your dreams? What do you want your life to look like in the next 3, 6 or 12 months? A fantastic relationship? Financial security? A fit and toned body? More confidence? These are just a few examples – you can find many more of your own. I’ve found one of the best ways to solidify my dreams, visualize the visceral impact and ultimately manifesting them through making a vision board.

Why make a vision board? By putting your goals in a visual format, which you look at every day, it helps to achieve and manifest these goals. Many psychologists agree that by using visualization, either in a palpable board format or through mental visualizations - motivation, confidence, and even motor performance is increased. That is why so many athletes use mental visualization alongside physical practice/drills to optimize their peak performance. As Amazing Over 40 women, we can do both – physically create a vision board and then mentally envision them happening.

Step 1 – Determine your values.

Take some time with yourself to see what your true values/goals are for the next 3-6 months, or longer. Is it to travel more - after COVID is done, right? Establish a new relationship or solidify an ongoing one? Make more money? Achieve better health? How do you want to feel? After reflecting on what’s truly important to you, it’s time for Step 2.

Step 2 – Find your dreams.

Go crazy with magazines, photos, etc. – wherever you can find inspiration and let your mind run free. Cut out pictures, words/phrases that resonate with you and get you excited about your life. This is a time to let yourself feel free - without judgment! Cut out those pictures you want of a toned body, a happy relationship, traveling on a safari – and so much more! The sky’s the limit here – don’t hold yourself back.

Life is not a dress rehearsal – we need to live it now and plan for what we want our future to be. Yes, you CAN manifest your dreams. That’s why I’m so excited about sharing the concept of Vision Boards with all of you Amazing Women.

Let’s start with these first 2 steps – next week’s blog we’ll start putting our dreams onto our boards! Note – this can also be done virtually – I just like the feel of rustling papers, getting glue on my hands, and physically placing them on my board. Share some of your dreams and what you’re cutting out!

In health and happiness- Dr. Diana
