Top Brain-Boosting Foods

We all want to protect our brains as we age and prevent dementia, right?
What foods should we be eating to keep us sharp and focused?

According to Lisa Mosconi, Ph.D. at the Weill/Cornell Medical College and author of The Surprising Science of Eating for Cognitive Power, here are the top 5 foods that fill that bill.

1. Salmon – high in omega-3 fatty acids

2. Green Leafy Vegetables
– swiss chard, spinach, kale.
Rich in B-Vitamins

3. Berries – blueberries, cherries, raspberries.
Loaded with anti-oxidants.

4. Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, flaxseed
Healthy polyunsaturated fats

5. Raw cacao – 80% dark chocolate – in moderation!
As a board-certified Ob/Gyn, my patients love this last one – yes, dark chocolate!

Yet I must provide them with the caveat that approximately 2 ounces of at least 80% pure cacao is sufficient!

Go to your local farmer’s market and purchase these fresh! This cuts down on toxic-ridden preservatives and pesticides as well as helps to support your local growers!
