LOOKING FOR THAT POT OF GOLD? Check out Caraway seeds
St. Paddy’s day is right around the corner.
Want a delicious way to celebrate and still be healthy?
I love roasted veggies and what better for this Irish fest than some simple, green cabbage topped with antioxidant rich caraway seeds. These seeds have been used in European cuisine for hundreds of years helping treat conditions from indigestion and bloating to gas. Caraway is an excellent source of Vitamin A, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Phosphorus, Niacin and Folate.
Due to the antioxidant properties, caraway may help with conditions to reduce inflammation, specifically in relation to irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. But use caution in patients with diabetes as caraway may lower blood sugar levels leading to hypoglycemia.
Check out this amazing recipe from Cooking Light using caraway seeds on cabbage wedges with a hint of orange.
