Labor Day is next Monday! Can you believe it???
I think many of us are amazed at how fast this year has gone- for some though, 2020 can’t be over soon enough! September is here with Labor Day celebrations around the corner.
Why do we celebrate this day and what does it mean?
According to the Department of Labor, Labor Day is “the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”
Looking back over this year and the troubled times, I would like to recognize all of those who have worked to keep this country afloat and thriving during the past 6 months,
From the janitors that clean the hospital floors,
to the frontline healthcare workers examining and caring for ALL patients
to the postal workers, UPS, FED-EX and others who deliver our mail,
to the grocery store workers that stock the shelves and keep us fed
to the charity workers who help to deliver food, organize food drives to help feed those who can’t afford groceries
to the farmers who tend our crops and distribute for delivery
to the busboys and waiters/waitresses who serve us our food when we can go out
to the newspaper delivery man who comes every day with the morning paper…
Who would you like to add to the list?
