Flax and Berry Breakfast Blast For Colon Health

Do you want to protect your colon health AND eat something delicious? Try this, one of my favorite recipes, to celebrate Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month!

Healthy eating and regular physical activity play an incredibly important role in the prevention & treatment of all cancers, including colorectal cancer. This “Flax and Berry Breakfast Blast” recipe is packed with nutrients, antioxidants, preventative and restorative properties that promote colon health.

According to the World Cancer Research Fund / American Institute for Cancer Research, your diet choices can greatly reduce your risk of developing colorectal cancer. For instance, flaxseed contains Omega-3 essential fatty acids, lignans, which have both plant estrogen and antioxidant qualities, as well as soluble and insoluble fiber. I added the pineapple to sweeten the mix a little. I know what you are thinking, “Aren’t pineapples high in sugar?” Yes, but it is natural sugar and in a small amount to act as a natural sweetener.

In addition, studies are being conducted on the impact of pineapple’s bromelain enzyme and its effect on immune cells. Bananas are a great source for intestinal health and your daily potassium, fiber, vitamin C & B6 requirements. Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, & strawberries contain phytochemicals that inhibit cancer cells in rat’s colons by up to 80% and contain healthy doses of Vitamin C and fiber.

Here’s the yummy recipe!
