Do Vision Boards Work? Yes and No!

As we are working on collecting pictures, words, inspirational sayings and other items to place on our vision boards, I’ve been getting some feedback from nay-sayers casting doubt on whether or not they truly work.

Well, the answer is yes and no!

Yes - If you actually create your board, look at it every day (possibly 3-4 times a day) think about what’s on the board and imagine what it would feel like to have these things in your life – it will work!  As our brains slowly start taking in these images and thoughts, new neural pathways will be created.  Over time, these will then become your habits.  Just like your present habits weren’t created overnight, neither will these.

It takes time – think of a seedling.  Start with planting a seed in the soil, watering it every day, giving it sunlight, and space to grow.  In a few weeks, you might see some branches and leaves form, eventually growing over time into a mature plant.

As an Ob/Gyn, I relate to the analogy of pregnancy.  It takes 9 months for the baby from conception to birth – withmany months forming and growing in a mother’s womb.  This is known as “gestation”.  This same “gestation” period has to happen with you and your board.  Without it, it won’t work.

No – If you don’t put internal energy and creativity into your board and  just put it in the corner to collect dust – you will not manifest your dreams.  Remember the movie, “The Secret”?  Well, you can’t make things happen if you don’t take ACTION!  Sitting on the couch eating bon-bons, feeling sorry for yourself, and your situation won’t change things – except maybe your waistline, which many of us do NOT want at this time.

I am sharing the cold, hard TRUTH with you!  If you want to change things in your life, you will need to change your thoughts, beliefs, and habits.  If you don’t, you will NOT change things in your life.

Over the years, I’ve also found that there are some people who DON’T want to change.  And that’s ok.  They can live their lives in whatever way they choose.  Yet, I urge you to find ways to make changes in your life.  If vision boards sound good to you, join me as we explore onward on what life holds for all of us!

In health and happiness,

Dr. Diana
