2019 – Here’s to the best Year Ever!

This year is about YOU!  As women, we tend to put ourselves last on our lists – taking care of our families, friends and other obligations before taking care of our own needs and desires.  Starting today, let’s put ourselves first!

Every year, we make New Year’s Resolutions – some we attempt to keep for weeks or months, and others seem to disappear within the first few days.  What if, we together, make 2019 the best year ever – in whatever areas you want - health, wellness, relationships and happiness?

Would you really commit to it and put yourself first?  Be willing to step out of your comfort zone to experience a better version of you?  Well, you can!  There’s never been a better time to take control of your destiny.  We live in a time where literally the world- and what we want from it – is at our fingertips.   The information and resources are waiting for you.  Maybe one of your goals is weight loss – Amazing over 40 has a plan, resources and community to get you there.

Rather than focusing on how over 50% of New Year’s resolutions are broken within the first month, we want to focus on how to get to your goal – without swaying from it.

We do all know what we have to do – we just don’t want to do it.  That’s where the 3 “C’s” come in: Courage, Commitment and Consistency

Courage to take the first step.  Commitment to stay on track and consistency to ensure your results are maintained.  Say you want to lose 10 -15 pounds.  First, the courage to state that you really want this result, the commitment to go to exercise 4-5 x/week and choose a better eating plan, and the consistency to keep going even after you’ve lost the weight.

Are you in?

Great!  Write down your top 3 Wellness Goals for 2019 – you can download a sheet here.

On the bottom right side of the page, write down all of the obstacles to achieving this goal.

Now, these “obstacles” can be something you believe may stand in your way- but there are ways to get around them.  Take “time” for instance- one of the biggest obstacles for many of us.   You don’t have the time to go to the gym 4-5 times/week.  What are some possible ways to get exercise without going to the gym?

Here are a few:

  • Take the stairs, rather than the elevator, to your work floor.

  • During your lunch hour, walk for 30 minutes around your building or neighborhood, rather than sit at your desk.

  • While on the phone in your office or home, walk around while talking rather than sitting in your chair.

Yes, some of these will burn more calories than others, but the point is that we can find options around these obstacles– we just need to be willing to give up one thing…our excuses!!

It’s really up to you and your mind.  Your mind has the potential to create the best version of you.  You deserve to put yourself first and achieve the goals you have been dreaming of.  Yet, this same mind can easily squelch your expectations with negative thoughts and stories of the past, limiting your progress and success.

Which mindset do you want to follow?  If you’re ready for a new you and the best year of your life, share our Instagram page and blog posts.  Strap on your seat-belt-- because 2019 here we go!
